“Secret Empire” is on the horizon, and Marvel Comics has wasted no time hyping their upcoming project. The publisher dropped a total of six new teasers, which all boast the project title, Steve Rogers’ new shield and a brief description.

These short descriptions include the words “Guard,” “Amaze,” “Avenge,” “Champion,” “Defend” and “X-Citing.” Notably, each one corresponds with a Marvel Comics title: “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Amazing Spider-Man,” “Avengers,” “Champions,” “Defenders” and “X-Men.” Though far from confirmed, it seems like “Secret Empire” will impact these titles, which suggests that the project will be a line-wide Marvel event.

The series, which will run for 9 issues, will begin with issue #0 in April. Issue #1 will arrive in May. The series will be written by Spencer and feature art from Steve McNiven and Andrea Sorrentino. Marvel has also confirmed to CBR that artists Leinil Yu and Daniel Acuna will also be part of “Secret Empire.”
Brevoort added that the event will kick off when “not one, not two, but three separate events break out all at once. Cap, as head of S.H.I.E.L.D., is able to mobilize forces to all three of those situations. And those three situations represent Hydra’s first move. It comes off the blocks explosively right from the get-go.”

Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said “Secret Empire” is designed to unify the Marvel Universe’s heroes, particularly after the divisive “Civil War II” and “Inhumans vs. X-Men.”

“We’ve just come off of ‘Civil War II’ and ‘Inhumans vs. X-Men,’ two big, dark events that had heroes fighting against heroes, over somewhat defensible positions,” said Alonso. “This is very much more an old school story. You will know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. This is not heroes fighting heroes, this is heroes fighting a bad guy… We saw this moment as our chance to rally the entire Marvel Universe, which has been fragmented of late.”

Marvel indique qu'aucun event n est prévu suite à celui-ci. Ce qui laisserait au moins 18 mois sans nouvel events d envergure.
Secret Empire devrait aussi être un des derniers comics Marvel avec un sujet ouvertement politique.. ce qui laisse penser que Spencer ne devrait pas rester sur les séries Captain AMerica.
